Life Education

We've had one session in the life education caravan.
We have learnt about healthy foods and 5 plus a day.

Q1) What healthy food should you eat every day?
You have to eat 5 plus a day, 2 fruit and 3 vegetables everyday.
Q2) Do you eat junk food or healthy food?
You have to eat healthy food everyday and not much junk food or else you won’t be healthy.
Q3) Should you drink fizzy drink everyday?
You shouldn’t drink fizzy drink unless it is a treat for you because it is full of sugar and can make your teeth rot.

Netbook reflection 2012

Netbook reflection 2012

Hi my name is Chantelle I am a year 7 at Panmure Bridge School.

Positive things about my netbook are that I can do presentations and that I can go onto studyladder which helps me with my maths.

A negative thing about my netbook is that the internet is always slow and that people can go off task easily.

An unusual thing about my netbook is that the writing is different because some people would much rather work with pen & paper than a netbook.

Day and night

Day and night

In the night families dine at restaurants
and drive their cars along the very scary and dark streets.

In the day children love to run about with their friends
and go home to relax with a nice cold ice block in the very busy streets.

A girl’s head

In it there is a planet
and a project
for getting rid of the alien

And there is a
spaceshuttle,
which shall be first.

And there is
an entirely new rabbit
an entirely new bumble bee
an entirely new hamster.

There is my age or my birthday.

There is a space shuttle.

There is antipodes.

And it cannot be put down.

I believe
that only what cannot be held back
is a head.

There is much to promise
in the circumstance
so that many people have heads.

Wood tech

This photo shows me holding my rocket car that I built at Tamaki College.
Once I had finished my project I was proud of what I had done and I did well.

I have eaten
the corned beef
that was in
the fridge.

and which
you were probably
saving
for school lunches.

Forgive me
it was so mouth watering
so tasty
and so yummy.

Tui Report By Chantelle

Tui Report

A tui is a New Zealand bird that has a white tuft underneath its chin but what makes it stand out, is its black feathers.

In spring some birds travel outside of their territory to feed themselves and their little ones.  To get food they have to go out into the open.  Throughout New Zealand they have to find good places to survive and good supplies of nectar.

Sometimes the tui sings in the morning with all sorts of sounds such as croaks, coughs and squeaks.  A tui has a wide range of notes to sing with.

Tuis love to eat berries, fruits, insects and nectar.  For the first few days the baby tui gets fed tiny insects and nectar.  When they start to get older they get fed berries, moths, spiders and especially stick insects.

A tui can usually lay about 2 to 4 eggs.  It would take about 2 weeks before it starts to hatch.  The eggs only hatch in the nesting seasons which are December and November.

I asked the little boy who cannot see.

I asked the little boy who could not see,

‘And what is the colour like?’

‘Why, white,’ he said,
‘Is like the soft snow underneath my feet.
Red is like the sweet taste of raspberry juice that we made.
And green is like the lovely leaves falling onto my head.
Blue is the pouring rain falling from the sky.
Purple is like the smell of beautiful flowers.
The burning sun on my back, that’s yellow.
Brown is the taste of a delicious chocolate ice block.’

Average distance of planes

This is my graph it shows how far the boys and girls planes went. The furthest out of the boys went 6.46m and that was our last trial. For our first trial more of the girls threw further then boys. We threw a total distance of 4.5m. It was a lot of fun.

Swimming recount

   Swimming Recount

Splish splash went the water as room 6 got in.  Panmure Bridge was excited for their first swimming lesson for term 1.  There was a man named Mr. Burton who took group 1 for their first swimming lesson. There was another man as well, his name was Mr. Nepia, he took group 2 for some games the first game was baseball we got split up into groups one group was batting and the others were fielding.

Ms. Kirkpatrick came and called the other group.  My friends and I got changed into our togs. At first I thought the water was going to be deep but it was just right for my friends and I. The first stroke we learnt was freestyle and to kick your feet underneath the water.  When we first did freestyle there were about three boys who got comments on how well they swam.

The rest of us had to do freestyle again because we were not doing the strokes properly so we kept on doing it until we got it right. In the end we got it and we got to have free time.  We did handstand competitions and see who could hold their breath underneath the water for the longest.

It was time to get out and get changed we quickly got changed so we could go back to class it was so cool learning how to freestyle.

Chantelle's reflection

One thing I learnt this week was...
how to put a life jacket on properly.

I was learning  this because...
we were learning about what happened in Stewart island.

I know I have learnt this because...
I was focused and listened to what was being said.

A question I now have is...
who’s idea was it to make the life jacket?

Next week I need to work on...
being able to float properly on my back.

The best activity of the week was...
learning how to float with a life jacket on because it was interesting.

I know someone who can.

I know someone who...

I know someone who can
wiggle her little toe.
I know someone who can
read a book in a day and night.
I know someone who can
eat the most food in a day.
I know someone who can
write 3 pages of work.
I know someone who can
yell a lot.
I know someone who can
make a very big mess in her room.
I know someone who can
eat corn with chocolate milk on it.
I know someone who can
get spoiled a lot.
I know someone who can
make a popping sound with her mouth.
I know someone who can
write really messy and neat.
I know someone who can
use her mind to create things.
I know someone who can
make up her own characters.
And that someone is
ME!

chantelles holiday story

Trip to Ashhurst

I was so excited because today was the day. I woke up and my mum told me to put my clothes on.  After a few minutes we dropped my mum off at work and I said our journey begins here.

Off we went. When we were on the motorway my dad said to text north for the radio stations so I did. Each suburb we came to we changed radio stations.

Finally we came to Turangi for some breakfast. I had a bacon and egg Mcmuffin, Hashbrown and a hot chocolate.

We hit the road again and I asked my dad how long until Waiouru I think he said 2 hours I wasn’t excited when he said that but I just acted like I was. I saw the army museum and I said we’re here I got some lunch only a pie and one of my favourite drinks too.

I asked my dad how long until Ashhurst.  It was about 3 hours, I was sort of excited when he said that but not really. I saw the four square and the windmills. I said “yeah we’re here”.  We we’re nearly at my uncle’s house but when we got there know one was there.  Luckily my dad had a spare key from the last time my mum dad and I came down.
